Sgt Donald E. Dearth attended Chillicothe High School for four years and was employed by the B. & O. Railway before he enlisted in Columbus, Ohio on 15 January 1943. He was sent overseas in April 1944.He was awarded the Purple Heart Medal a first time for wounds, receivedon 31 July 1944 in France.
He was killed by artillery shell fragments.
He was first buried at the Temporary American Military Cemetery in Limey, France.
