Pvt Herman A. H. Engelhardt graduated from Central High School in 1943.

He enlisted on 21 December 1943 and was sent overseas in September 1944.

He was killed in action during a demolition mission on a bridge at St. Oedenrode when an enemy shell burst near him.

He was first buried at the Temporary American Military Cemetery of Son, The Netherlands
