George was a member of the 721st Bomber Squadron 450th Bombardment Group and shot down over Brasov, Romania. He was awarded the Purple Heart and the Air Medal. He married Jean Edith Nelson (aka Sebring), February 6, 1942 in Chicago. They had no children. Before the war, George worked for his uncle, E.G. Ryan in the printing industry.George was an amiable and well-loved man.
His nickname was "Little George".
