More information

Pfc Michael Mozier joined the Air Corps of the U.S. Army Reserve in Bridgeport, Connecticut, on 2 October 1940.

S/Sgt Anthony J. Vola:
“Near the target area we were attacked by enemy fighters. While on the bomb run I saw ship #41-29338 attacked and a few seconds later he went into a dive with the #2 engine on fire. As the aircraft went down out of sight I saw one person bail out. Soon after this, I saw the ship going down. It was apparently hit since it was leaving a smoke trail. As the ship went out of sight I failed to see any parachutes. The location as noted by the Navigator was 48.08N 14.00E.”

1st Lt Holly G. Ponder:
“I saw Pfc Mozier’s body still in his parachute. He had been fired on by a fighter. One hit was high in the chest.”
