2nd Lt Edward J. Troy was employed at the Postal Department.

He joined the Air Corps of the U.S. Army Reserve in Boston, Massachusetts on 20 June 1942.

The airplane was reported being attacked by an ME-109 which dove out of the sun. Another report attributed the loss to a rocket hit on the nose. It blew up in mid-air.

Two crew members survived and were taken prisoner, eight were killed.

American Legion Post #384 located in South Boston was named in Lt Edward J. Troy's honor.
