More information

S/Sgt Murray Podolsky enlisted in New York City, New York on 30 October 1942.

Statement by David E. Olsson, Capt, Asst Operations Officer: "B-17G 42-31054, piloted by 2nd Lt Clark A. Huddleston, was last seen at 52 degrees 25N 7 degrees 30E burning and going down. This was probably caused by fighters, as there were great numbers making attacks".

Nine crew members were able to bail out and ended up POWs. Surviving crew members' reports indicate that S/Sgt Murray Podolsky was last seen when he was about to bail out the rear door, at which time a rocket exploded against the tail wheel assembly. He was seen falling.

S/Sgt Murray Podolsky is believed to have been killed by the explosion or when the ship crashed.
