Pfc William A. Harper Jr. attended Iowa City High School.He enlisted at Camp Dodge, Iowa on 3 March 1943 and joined his unit from a replacement depot on 19 June 1944. He was lightly wounded in action on 11 July 1944. After recovering, he rejoined his unit.
