Pfc John W. Jessup Jr. enlisted in Los Angeles, California on 20 March 1943. His parents were born in the United Kingdom and moved to Canada where they were married. They emigrated from Vancouver, B.C. in Canada, arriving in Seattle, Washington on 11 June 1923 on the vessel SS "Princess Victoria".Their first three children were born in Canada. John resided with his father in Los Angeles, California at the time of his enlistment but was not officially a resident yet. In 1940 he worked at a factory in California. In 1943 he served with the Serv. Bat. 975 Fd. Art. Bat at Camp Forret in Tennessee as a Private First Class. He became a US citizen on 23 April 1943.
He was killed during Operatin Varsity, the Jump across the Rhine river.
