Sgt Le Roy L. Haynes attended Fostoria High School with the Class of 1942.He was sent overseas in August 1944.
En route to the battalion's position, Sgt Haynes was killed by enemy small arms fire as he observed the results of direct fire the section had undertaken against the enemy located in the woods.
The photo of the younger Sgt Haynes is from 1940 when he was in his 2nd year of high school.
