Sgt Donald E. Russ graduated from South High School located in Grand Rapids, Michigan in 1928. He attended college for one year.He enlisted in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma on 22 August 1942.
He was wounded in action on 19 December when an airburst sprayed shrapnel over his vehicle.
He is remembered at Graceland Cemetery in Racine, Racine County, Wisconsin.
The picture was taken in high school in 1928.
