More information
Pfc Frank C. Boylan enlisted at Fort Dix, Burlington, New Jersey on 15 March 1944.Francis F. Mazi and his sister Anne were the only children of John and Ana Mazi, who were Slovanian immigrants to America. When Frank was 6 years old, his parents died shortly after each other. Both Frank and Anne (8) were placed in an orphanage. They were very afraid of being adopted separately. With the help of a Catholic priest they were adopted by Cornelius and Mary (Quinn) Boylan in 1923. Frank and Anne moved to Queens, New York City, where they were raised in a loving home by their adoptive parents. Upon adoption Frank and Anne's names were changed from Mazi to Boylan. The photo on the right shows Frank and Anne with their adoption parents.
Pfc Boylan married Rose Arvoy and they had a son before he enlisted in the Army. He was in France before he went to Germany. There his Regiment was sent to the Siegfried Line, where there were heavy casualties. He was killed in the Battle of Hürtgen Forest.
