More information
Sgt Robert S. Newsome graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School and was employed at Office Terminal of Seaboard Airlines Rail Road.He enlisted in February 1944 and was sent overseas in October 1944.
Per S/Sgt Omar H Scheidt: Sgt Newsome left the aircraft by parachute. His parachute was open. In Badhomberg, while in custody of the German guards, a small boy approached and said my "Comrade" was drown in a nearby lake. Since Newsome was the only member of the crew not accounted for, we believed he died by drowning.
