Pfc Floyd T. R. Billingsley attended Lamesa High School.

He joined the Regular Army in Lubbock, Texas on 5 August 1940. He first served with the Medical Detachment of the 7th Cavalry where he rose to the rank of Staff Sergeant on 13 October 1941.

He must have renounced his rank when he joined the paratroopers.
