Alexander E. Wilkerson Marshall was employed at the California Moulding and Lumber Company.He enlisted in Seattle, Washington on 3 March 1943 and trained for six months at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, before he volunteered for the paratroopers. He was awarded his wings at Fort Benning, Georgia and was sent overseas in March 1944.
He took part in the D-Day invasion of Normandy and participated in Operation Market-Garden,
