S/Sgt George J. Petricka graduated from the Sherman High School with the Class of 1933. Following his graduation he attended the University of Minnesota and later took a course in the Minnesota School of Business in Minneapolis. In June 1940 he opened the Petricka Cleaners, a dry cleaning establishment in the neighboring city of New Prague. On 14 January 1941 he was united in marriage to Miss Celia Titkalsky at the Catholic church in New Prague.He enlisted on 21 September 1942 and was sent overseas in April 1944.
