T/5 Donald E. Setchell attended college for one year and was employed at the Mohawk Carpet Mills before he enlisted in Albany, New York on 3 February 1943.He was killed by artillery shell fragments in his chest.
He was first buried at the Temporary American Military Cemetery in Andilly, France.
He is also remembered at the Fairview Cemetery in Amsterdam, Montgomery County, New York.
