Sgt John E. Scully graduated from Fort Dodge High School in 1935 where his major studies were in Math and his hobby was dancing. He worked as a truck driver for the Fort Dodge Gas And Electric Co.He enlisted at Camp Dodge Herrold, Iowa on 26 January 1944.
Sgt Scully was killed in action with six other members of his group in a fight between an American tank and a German anti-tank team.
Sgt. Scully is remembered at the Corpus Christi Cemetery in Fort Dodge, Webster County, Iowa.
