S/Sgt Charles H. Sympson was employed at the Illinois Central Rail Road before he enlisted on March 1943. He was overseas for 13 months when he was killed.

He was wounded in action in Matzerath, Germany on 1 March and died in a hospital in Luxembourg the same day.
