Sgt Jack B. Himes graduated from Sandusky High School before he enlisted in Grand Rapids, Michigan on 17 January 1944. In August 1944 he was sent overseas.

He died on 5 January from wounds he got in action on the first of January in the Bastogne sector.

He was first buried at the Temoporary American Military Cemetery in Solers, France.
