1st Lt Marvin E. Shipp enlisted in the Regular Army in Los Angeles, California on 7 July 1941.He attended College at the Bible Institute in Los Angeles and worked as a kitchenworker before he enlisted.
On 18 January 1945 the 2nd Infantry Regiment crossed the Sauer River in the vicinity of Ingeldorf-Diekirch.
