Pfc Charles B. McGuire worked in a machine shop before he enlisted in New York City, New York on 21 November 1942.During a search for German soldiers who could still be in the vicinity, Pfc McGuire dragged his carabine along the ground. The trigger caught on some foliage and the gun discharged. A bullet went through his stomach. In 15 minutes, his live slipped away, his head in the lap of another soldier.
