More information
William Pastor was a mechanic. He joined the Air Corps of the U.S. Army Reserve in Newark, New Jersey, on 6 July 1942.
When the target area was approached, Lt. Penny was leading a flight of three planes. Lt Pastor was on his right wing, and I was on his left wing. I peeled off after Lt Penny on the bomb run and observed Lt Pastor behind me. After the bomb run, I again joined Lt Penny. Lt Pastor did not join, but called to ask our position. We made several circles of the target area, during which time he called again. I then followed Lt Penny on several strafing passes at the same target. On one of these, we were joined by two planes, one of which was identified by Lt Penny as Lt Pastor's plane. This plane did not remain with us however, after the pass. After several passes at the target, we climbed to altitude and, with a plane from another flight, set course for home. I cannot remember whether Lt Pastor called again after the strafing. We were in the target area from approximately 1400 until 1430.
