Pfc Orville C. Rusch worked for his father on the family farm.

He was an assistant to the Battalion Graves Registration Officer. One of his duties was to remove deceased comrades.

On 22 January 1945 he set out across a field near Saarlautern to remove the body of an American soldier and was killed by a sniper.

Pfc Rusch is remembered at Ida Grove Cemetery in Ida Grove, Ida County, Iowa with a memorial marker.
