Statement from 1st Lt Norman W. Sherwood:
"I was pilot of a ship leading an element of 3 ships which were to bomb a flak position near Irlich, Germany on 24 February 1945. Lt Huskey in ship 820 was flying number two position on my right wing. We had turned left off the target when ship 820 was hit by flak in the right engine which caught fire. The ship kept trying to get back in formation when his bomb bay caught fire and it appeared as if his navigators apartment was on fire. The last I saw of the ship it was burning with flames shooting back to the tail."
