More information

2nd Lt Vernon A. Post graduated from Jackson High School in 1939 and was employed at Frost Gear and Forge Company.

He joined the Regular Army in Jackson, Michigan, on 9 October 1942.

1st Lt Milton N. Mannick:
"I was flying red four in Firebrick Squadron on the 8th of February 1945. This was a dive-bombing to knock out a bridge west of Cologne, Germany. Lt. Post was flying Firebrick Red two. We were just about 15 minutes from our field, flying in formation through the clouds. I saw Lt Post fall back a short ways, and he suddenly rolled over and went down through the clouds. Our altitude was approximately 2,000 feet. I did not see him hit the ground nor hear him call on the radio. This incident occurred about 1015 hours."
