Pfc John J. Maheigan attended high school for three years and worked on a Navy Yard before he enlisted in Boston, Massachusetts on 4 November 1943.He was wounded by an artillery shell, and died in a field hospital in Belgium on 8 January 1945.
He was first buried at the Temporary American Military Cemetery in Grand Failly, France.
