Pfc Walter E. Deemer graduated from Wilkinsburg High School and was working as a mechanic in his father’s battery service before he enlisted in New Cumberland, Pennsylvania on 24 June 1944.

He was sent overseas on 4 December 1944 and had been in action only a few days when he was killed.
