Pvt Joseph J. Roche graduated from Collinwood High School in 1943. He enlisted in Cleveland, Ohio on 16 June 1943.

He was killed by artillery shell fragments to the stomach.

He was first buried at the Temporary American Military Cemetery in Andilly, France.
