More information

Capt Raymond F. Reuter was employed at the Douglas Aircraft Co Inc before he joined the Air Corps of the U.S. Army Reserve in Los Angeles, California on 13 May 1942.

1st Lt Joseph G. Farrell:
At 1430 hours we caught a good deal of 20mm and 40mm flak from the airfield southeast of Prague. After calling it in I broke to the left away from it, with the rest of the squadron following. Capt R. F. Reuter squadron leader and Lt W. R. Preddy were not see after that, but five minutes later told us to rendezvous over the river southwest of Prague. Before we could get there Capt Reuter said he was chasing two jets. After several minutes, he gave up the chase and said he was heading due south. That was at 1445 and the last time we heard from him. Lt Preddy was flying wing position to Capt Reuter.

A monument at the edge of the forest remembers Capt Reuter.
