More information

Sgt Sam A. Holquin enlisted in Los Angeles, California on 14 May 1943.

2nd Lt Edmund J. Smith:
“Upon reaching the target, two engines of the subject ship burst into flame, after which it slid beneath us and was lost from my view.”

Sgt Earnest Clenon:
“I assume that Sgt Holquin stayed in the plane a few minutes after the waist gunner left, possible to see what happened to the ball gunner as the two were exceptionally close friends. He was then either hit by subsequent bursts of flak, or killed when the plane blew up.”
