More information

S/Sgt Harry Egnatenko enlisted in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on 10 March 1943.

His father was born as Lohin Ehnatenko but changed his name into Logan Egnatenko.

This was the first flight with this crew, he was a replacement.

He was probably killed by a burst of flak in the nose of the plane. The plane blew up in the air.

Statement from 2nd Lt Edmund J. Smith:
"I, Edmund J. Smith, O-718031, AC, was the Bombardier on the ship of 1st Lt James H. Becklund, 0-1165246, which flew in the third position of the formation on 13 October 1944 with B-24 Air-plane number 42-51764, piloted by 1st Lt Robert K. Baker, O-796759. He was flying in number four position. Upon reaching the target, two engines of the subject ship burst into flame, after which it slid beneath us and was lost from my view."
