2nd Lt John A. Finn attended 4 years of college and was a chemist before he enlisted in Los Angeles, California on 4 August 1941.

S/Sgt Frank C. Martin:

Plane No. 42-31506 was flying in number two position in our element, just to the right of us. Just as we made our turn off the target I saw flame on number 506’s right wing and he immediately started dropping back and losing altitude. Only a few seconds later 058 was hit and as the fighters were coming in, I could see no more of number 506.

S/Sgt Glen M. Hedrick:

He was shot while coming down in chute near Szombathely.
