Elton Schumann graduated from Anna High School in May 1943 and assisted his father in farming.He enlisted on 6 September 1943 at Fort Benjamin Harrison, Indiana and was sent overseas in August 1944.
The airplane collided with airplane 42-107006 over the target. It broke in half. Two crew members survived and were taken prisoner, eight were killed. They were initially buried at the cemetery of the military facilities of Heydebreck.
