Sgt John A. Chiappetta worked on a farm before he enlisted at Fort Lauderdale, Florida on 6 February 1942.He is remembered at the Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Milledgeville, Baldwin County, Georgia.
His brother, Pfc Bernard T. Chiappetta, was killed on 8 October 1945 Ancy sur Moselle, France. He is buried in the Luxembourg American Cemetery in Hamm, Luxembourg.
