More information

Pfc Gordon J. Mc Donald was a stock clerk before he volunteered for the US Army in New York City, New York on 17 October 1942.

Pfc Mc Donald peered out of the foxhole to assess their situation. The drab gray-green of his infantry helmet moving on a backdrop of white snow caught the eye of a nearby German soldier. Gunfire erupted, and Mc Donald slumped back into the foxhole, lifeless, with fatal wounds to his head.
