More information

Pvt Peter Becker Jr. immigrated to the States in 1926 with his parents.

He was employed by the Owens-Corning Packing Department before he enlisted in Columbus, Ohio on 13 October 1943. He was sent overseas in May 1944.

In August 1947, his father visited his grave. At that time the Cemetery still had a temporary status and the grave markers were still made of wood. Photos of his visit are added.

He told the following to the reporters of The Newark Advocate: "As soon as I saw that cemetery, beautiful in its simplicitiy, I decided to leave Peter Jr. buried there."
