1st Lt Mc Elroy Nangle graduated from Orlando Senior High School, right before he volunteered for the U.S. Army in Orlando, Florida, on 27 March 1942 and was sent overseas in June 1943,Lt Nangle was a C-47 pilot in the 313th Air Transport Group, based at A-25, France. He requested to be transferred to a P-47 Fighter Group, which was approved. He took off from Prosnes, France, on a training flight. He crashed about 15 miles from Prosnes.
He was first buried at the Temporary American Military Cemetery of Champigneul, France.
