More information

2nd Lt Charles F. De Moisy attended Provo High School, Weber College and the University of Utah, where he majored in mechanical engineering.

He enlisted in Salt Lake City, Utah, on 28 August 1942.

Capt Wendell D. Brady:
"On September 9th, 1944, at 1400, Lt. C. F. De Moisy took off on a mission from Juvincourt Field, flying my wing. At or about 1515, I went down to strafe a German truck moving on the road. Lt De Moisy followed me down and set it on fire as I passed over it. I continued on my way and my leader, of yellow flight, gave a call that one of my flight had gone in. I circled back and saw a P-47 in a cow pasture. I came across it low and identified the ship as the one Lt De Moisy was flying. The engine had been knocked off on contact with ground, as it was lying about 30 feet to the left and rear of the plane. I continued to circle around for about twenty minutes with the squadron. I could see Lt. De Moisy slumped over in the cockpit. I never saw Lt De Moisy move. No one came near the plane while I was circling. I would say that Lt Charles F. De Moisy was severely wounded."
