More information

Sgt Billy T. Lockman graduated from Coughlin High School.

He joined the Regular Army on 19 October 1938. He was sent overseas in November 1943.

The aircraft was attacked by enemy aircraft and exploded. Sgt Lockman and Sgt Joseph S. Pennock were killed. According to Sgt Arvin, left waist gunner, Sgt Lockman had gotten out of the ball turret and was preparing to bail out. It is believed that Sgt Lockman was hit by enemy fire while preparing to bail out as they were still being fired upon.

Sgt Lockman was first buried at the village cemetery at Abbenrode on 30 April 1944.
