2nd Lt George A. Pasvanis attended Youngstown College and worked in an automobile factory before he joined the US Army Air Corps Reserve in Cleveland, Ohio, on 11 August 1942.426 B-17s were dispatched but encountered very high clouds over Denmark and North Germany and were recalled.
Eyewitness statement from the MACR:
'Aircraft was last seen at about 1302 hours at 5430N - 0825E at 15,000 feet. This aircraft entered a cloud bank, making a turn to the right as it entered. It was in no difficulty as it entered the clouds, but was not seen again.'
The entire crew was killed.
