1st Lt Robert J. Miller:
Ship AAF #42-51401 was in normal position during the bomb run and did not seem to be in any trouble. At approximately 1227 hours the ship peeled out of formation with #2 engine on fire and #3 and #4 engines smoking badly. I saw no chutes. Ship AAF #42-51401 was in box #4, position #7 in the formation.
