Stanley Pielak was only eighteen when he joined the Army. He was sent overseas only four months before he was killed.His brother Peter, who served with the U.S. Navy, was killed during the invasion of Sicily in 1943.
At the time of Lt Pielak's death, his wife was expecting their son, Stanley.
