More information

T/Sgt Thomas W. Vogel graduated from Auburn Senior High School in 1939. After graduation, he went to Buffalo where he worked in the photography supply business.

He enlisted in Buffalo, New York on 24 July 1942.

He had planned to marry his fiancé when he returned for his furlough.

The plane was jumped by four enemy fighters, falling off into a dive, and it was apparently out of control. It burst into flames and disintegrated. It is also believed that the plane was downed by flak.
