S/Sgt James W. Hendon Jr. was a student of The Citadel which would have graduated in 1946. He had also attended North Georgia College for the 1942-43 academic year.The aircraft collided with airplane #42-38035 and both were totally destroyed.
Eight crew members were killed, one man survived.
