Reed H. Dominy attended college and was a high school teacher and assistant athletic coach at Longview Junior High School, where he taught mathematics and history.He joined the Air Corps of the Regular Army in Dallas, Texas on 2 October 1941.
Though the circumstances of his death remain unknown, the fact that no enemy aircraft were reported in the area suggests that the cause of his disappearance was anti-aircraft fire.
