More information
Although Pfc Dust was a resident of Harvey for less than two years, he became a local casualty by virtue of his marriage to the former Ruth Jurate. He was called into service on July 21, 1944 and received his basic training at Camp Hood, Texas. Five months later he was on his way overseas where he became a member of an infantry battalion in Gen. Patton's Third Army. He was reported to have been one of the first soldiers to cross the Rhine. A graduate of Bowen high school in Chicago, he was employed by the Youngstown Sheet and Tube Co. in Indiana Harbor, Indiana.
