Pvt Glen R. Norrell college before he enlisted in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma on 21 September 1943.He was awarded the Silver Star Medal posthumously. The citation cited: When his platoon was attacked by two enemy tanks, calmly and accurately firing his bazooka, under point blank fire from the enemy tank guns, he scored three hits on one tank, and two on the other, disabling the first and damaging the second. In loading the sixth round he was severely wounded by shrapnel, but his fire forced the damaged tank to retreat from the woods, to a hill down position.
