Manuel Ramos was a mechanic.

He enlisted in Phoenix, Arizona, on 20 October 1942.

His parents were born in Mexico.

The airplane was hit by flak on the #2 engine, just after bombs away, causing a fire and an explosion.
S/Sgt Ramos was able to bail out but was shot by enemy fighter planes before he landed. He was taken to a hospital but died later that day.

This was his third mission.

Seven crew members survived and were taken prisoner; two men were killed. They were initially buried at the cemetery of Herzberg on the same day.
