1st Lt Jesse D. Hausenfluck Jr. graduated from Georgetown High School and attended Southwestern University and worked in an aircraft factory.He volunteered for the Air Corps of the Army of the United States in Dallas, Texas on 3 January 1942.
The airplane was shot down by enemy fighters.
According to T/Sgt John T. Kilcourse, a surviving crew member, Lt Hausenfluck was hit by a 20 mm shell in his right thigh, and it looked serious. Kilcourse stated that he was the last one to bail out.
Eight crew members were taken prisoner, the pilot and the co-pilot were killed.
