Harris W. Joachim attended high school for four years and worked in the production of beverages.He joined the Air Corps of the Regular Army on 13 September 1940 at Chanute Field, Illinois.
The aircraft was hit on a wing by a bomb of another aircraft in the formation. It lost a part of the wing and went into a spin.
Two crew members survived and were taken prisoner, eight were killed.
